People working for free isn't a good business model. Who knew?

When Businessweek starts doing multiple pieces on Crowdsourcing, I think we can say the tipping point may be upon us.

They're even stumbling onto the fact that the contest model isn't sustainable. Oh really? You mean having hundreds submit work and only paying for one isn't exactly fair. Well neither was slavery but it was good for plantation owners. Fairness is subjective, especially if you are the one doing the subjugating.

Within a few years, I believe the (currently dominant) contest model will be gone and a more mature, equitable compensation model will be the norm.
